Energy Futures for Texas: Local and Global Perspectives

This conference is a one-day symposium organized jointly by Texas Christian University and the University of Oxford, England. The conference will be held at the Fort Worth Hilton on April 23, 2007, bringing together leaders from disciplines of the energy industry – business; policy; science; and technology. We shall discuss the Texas energy market, specifically the challenges of a cleaner, more secure future. The program will address the following questions:

  1. How can Texas become a national model for energy stability, efficiency, and renewable power?
  2. What are reasonable targets for energy conservation and energy efficiency?
  3. Are there investment opportunities in wind, solar, and other sources of clean, renewable power?
  4. What role should nuclear power play?
  5. What technologies could reduce emissions from current energy sources?

This symposium will be an excellent forum to learn more about the economics of clean energy and energy efficient technologies, as well as provide the opportunity for Texas’ business community to leverage the financial and environmental benefits of clean energy. Highlights include talks by leading energy experts and scientists from various sectors including energy services, wind power, green building design, environmental health, and nuclear energy. Attendees will have an opportunity to converse with the experts during a panel session in the afternoon.

Registration is $75 for individuals and includes all conference materials, lunch, coffee and snacks during the day. There will be 30 complementary student tickets available, after which regular conference fees will apply.
